Landscapers Gardeners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Landscapers Gardeners to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers engaged in providing landscaping, gardening, and related services for our business and our clients.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Landscapers Gardeners maintains a clear zero-tolerance stance towards any form of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, or child labour. We are committed to conducting our business in a manner that respects human rights and promotes safe, fair, and decent working conditions. No commercial objective, cost saving, or operational pressure will ever justify practices that conflict with this commitment.
All individuals working for or with Landscapers Gardeners, in any capacity, are expected to comply with this policy and uphold our standards of ethical conduct. We will take firm and immediate action where any breach or suspected breach of this policy is identified.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Our core activities include the design, installation, and maintenance of gardens, outdoor spaces, and landscaping projects. To deliver these services, we engage a range of suppliers and subcontractors, including providers of plants, materials, equipment, uniforms, and temporary labour. We recognise that these supply chains may involve sectors and regions where the risk of modern slavery is elevated.
We are committed to working only with suppliers that share our values, demonstrate respect for human rights, and comply with applicable labour and employment laws. We strive to build transparent, long-term relationships that allow us to understand and influence working practices throughout our supply chain.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Landscapers Gardeners expects all suppliers and subcontractors to adhere to standards that, at a minimum, prohibit forced, bonded, or involuntary labour; prevent child labour; ensure the right to leave employment with reasonable notice; pay fair wages in line with legal requirements; and provide safe, healthy, and respectful working conditions.
We seek to incorporate these expectations into our supplier onboarding processes and contractual arrangements. Where appropriate, we conduct due diligence checks, including assessing suppliers for labour practices, reviewing relevant certifications or policies, and requesting information on their own supply chains.
We may carry out audits or inspections of selected suppliers to verify compliance with our standards. These audits may be announced or unannounced and can include site visits, document reviews, and confidential discussions with workers. If a supplier fails to meet our requirements, we will require corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe, and we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship where adequate improvements are not made.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and key suppliers. Training is provided, where relevant, to managers and staff involved in procurement, recruitment, and site supervision so they can identify the warning signs of exploitation and respond appropriately.
Landscapers Gardeners encourages a culture of openness in which concerns about labour practices can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, workers, and third parties are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery, whether within our business or in our supply chain, to a designated manager or through internal reporting channels made available at our offices and worksites.
All reports will be treated seriously and, where appropriate, investigated promptly and confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time exercise. Landscapers Gardeners is committed to continuous improvement in our policies, due diligence processes, and supplier engagement practices. We will review and refine our approach as our business, regulatory expectations, and best practice standards develop.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by our leadership team to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with current legislation and guidance. Any significant changes to our risk profile or operations will be considered as part of that review, and updates to our procedures will be implemented where necessary.
By publishing this Modern Slavery Statement, Landscapers Gardeners reaffirms its commitment to ethical business practices and to playing an active role in the prevention of modern slavery in the landscaping and gardening sector.
